Bespoke treatments to relax your nervous system and muscles.

Therapies which tell your body and mind it's okay to be still and repair.

 Wood  Madero~Therapy Massage

With its roots in both South American and Ancient Eastern traditions this massage targets stubborn knots and blocked lymph vessels by combining  the rhythmic strokes of Swedish Massage with the controlled pressure of organically shaped wooden massage tools.

The wooden tools have rounded sides that perfectly contour the body, tone muscles and effectively dispel tension.

Some have knobbly bits that move in a rolling motion which are great at breaking up cellulite and stagnant lymph ready for the liver and kidneys to remove, and the treatment can also assist in reducing fluid retention.

The treatment involves...

I will start by massaging your back and the backs of your legs using Swedish massage techniques to warm up your muscles and fascia before adding the wooden massage tools.

Once  you have turned onto your back I will massage the front of your legs and feet, your arms and hands, and if comfortable for you I will include a short treatment on your abdomen to aid digestion and lymph drainage.

I will finish the treatment with a gentle neck, face and scalp treatment using smaller wooden massage tools good for releasing tension in the jaw, clearing sinuses and preventing headaches by calming the network of nerve endings and blood vessels in these areas which are often constricted due to stress, misaligned posture, over exertion and over thinking!

Shorter sessions

If you would rather have a shorter appointment to focus on particular areas of discomfort like your back and shoulders, achy legs and feet, or fancy a calming face and scalp massage I offer targetted  Swedish Massage sessions.

If requested at the time of booking I can also use wooden massage tools or alternatively Aromatic oils.

Hot Stones, Reflex Points & Reiki Seichem

A Hot Stone Massage alleviates chronic and acute tension in the muscles and surrounding fascia whilst boosting blood and lymph flow to deeply detoxify and nourish the body.

The use of hot stones originated from Ayurveda, the Ancient Indian Medical System.

They have been used worldwide for thousands of years to release tension and restore balance.

Energy Healing and Reflexology have been practised as far back as Ancient Egypt, both therapies can be seen revered in their heiroglyphs.

Energy healing is receiving life force energy often referred to as Chi or Ki which is flowing through all of us like our blood does, and through every atom of nature from a pebble to a mountain to the air that we breathe.

We all emit an energetic field called an aura and we have 7 main energy centres connected to different zones of the body known as Chakras.

When we are stressed and tense our Chi flow gets congested in our chakras and parts of our anatomy and organs.

When a Reiki practitioner tranfers Chi energy it propels the energy body of the recipient into self~healing mode.

It can often instigate profound shifts of emotional release and improve conditions in our outside environment also due to a more positive outlook on life from carrying less bottled up stress, and feeling more zen!

There are cases where Reiki has completely repaired ill health

and it is now welcomed widely across the NHS as a complementary treatment.

Reflex points can be identified in our feet, hands and ears and they correspond to our organs, glands and body parts. When gentle pressure is applied it assists in releasing built up bodily toxins and shifts energy stagnation.

The treatment involves...

I place heated stones on a towel along your thoracic and lumbar spine to start relaxing your core and to ground you into your body.

I will then massage the backs of your legs and the soles of your feet using Swedish Massage techniques initially before introducing the warmth of the beautiful basalt stones.

I remove the placement stones from your spine and use smaller stones to give your back, neck and shoulders some deeper far-reaching release.

Once you have turned over I will place warmed stones on your Heart chakra, Solar Plexus and Sacral chakra which helps to calm your emotions and nervous system, and to soothe your digestion which regularly tightens when we feel stress.

I will also place little stones upon cotton pads over your eyes which encourages your facial muscles to decompress.

I then massage the front of your legs and your arms and concentrate on any reflex points in your hands and feet relevant to your health status.

I leave a stone in each of your palms and towel-wrap each foot against a heated stone to create a feeling of safety and bliss whilst you receive a restorative face massage and an enlivening scalp massage.

~

And lastly, I will give you a short but mighty boost of Reiki Seichem energy healing.

For this I remain seated at the crown of your head with my hands above you.

The healing waves will travel to the different energy centres and parts of your anatomy where it is needed.

Reiki is an optional part of the treatment, it is fine if you prefer to receive an extended massage instead.

Aromatherapy Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage uses five techniques to generate deep relaxation and detoxification.. The gliding strokes of Effleurage, the gentle kneading of Petrissage, the circular motion of Friction, the hand cupping and finger tip drumming sensation of Tapotement, and the soft shaking movements of Vibration.

Essential oils are the concentrate of plant extracts made by either steaming or pressing the flowers, stems and leaves of selected plants.

It has been proven over centuries to positively impact our limbic system ~ the brain.

Once aromas are inhaled the scent molecules travel via the nose and the olfactory nerves straight to the amygdala which is the emotional center of the brain that processes anxiety and fear, regulates stress, and is where memories associated with emotions are stored.

Aromatic oils have a plethora of physical benefits, some open up breathing airways and dilate the sinuses, others reduce inflammation, boost circulation, balance hormones, lower anxiety and blood pressure. And they all just smell nice!

The benefits of the essential oils

Massage and aromas combined tell our brain it is safe to let go of physical and emotional tension.

A blended oil will contain top, middle and base scent notes.

Top scent notes tend to be invigorating like zingy lemon or cooling peppermint, middle notes are more floral like rosemary and lavender, and the base notes are smoky, sweet and woody such as Sandalwood and Frankincense.

The treatment involves...

This treatment offers a full body Swedish Massage incorporating essential oils selected to help ease any adverse physical, emotional and mental symptoms you may be experiencing as discussed during our initial consultation.

The treatment also includes a very relaxing face and scalp massage.

Tips

It can be common that in the following 24-48 hours after a massage to experience temporary tenderness in areas of the body that have released tension.

Due to the body's lymphatic and renal system being stimulated you may find you have the need for increased urination and bowel movements.

It is advisable to drink plenty of water to help support the body as it flushes out toxins, and to rehydrate.

Try and avoid strenuous exercise, hot showers or large meals immediately before or after a treatment.

Be kinder to yourself...

Feel better, live better

Feeling stressed and achy is not nice.

By relaxing the muscles and fascia our joints regain flexibility, tension can be released, pain lessens and we feel more resilient.
